Karyl Powell-Booth, is a Jamaican Associate Clinical Psychologist, with an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology and has more than 15 years’ experience working with adolescent and young people with mental disorders and mental health challenges in Jamaica. Karyl is a faculty member at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) in the College of Health Sciences, where she has held the posts of Programme Leader, Programme Director and lecturer in the Child & Adolescent Development course of study. She is also a PhD candidate in the Institute of Mental Health and Wellbeing’s Suicidal Behaviour Research Lab, at the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, UK. The focus of her research is on the risk and protective factors of suicide and self-harm among Jamaicans. Karyl is a member of the Caribbean Alliance of National Psychological Associations, the British Psychological Society, the International Association of Suicide Research and the International Association of Suicide Prevention.
