About the Forum

We were thrilled to be able to share findings from evaluation of our prosocial, educational computer game, ‘Danielle’, which has been trialled in seven schools across England.

Our closing event was an opportunity to bring together professionals with an interest in educating and safeguarding young people, to explore issues of abuse in young people’s intimate relationships, and to share research-informed ways of improving education to help young people make good choices and better understand healthy relationships. This is important because:

According to a 2021 Ofsted review:

90% of girls had been sent an explicit picture or video

50-70% of young people reported abuse through new technologies, most often controlling behaviour and surveillance

Teachers from schools involved in the trials of Ni3 UK’s prosocial, anti-violence video game also feature in this event, as do voices of the young people who played the game. Information about the National Survey of Sexual Practices

Do young people really see pornography? And do parents know?

More than half of young people have seen pornography online: nearly six in ten (57%) have come into contact with online pornography. However, only 16% of parents think that their child has seen pornography on the internet (Livingstone and Bober, 2004).
