Jorge works a lecturer in Criminology at Universidad Europea de Madrid (Spain) and as researcher at the “Group of Knowledge and Research in Social Problems” at the same institution. Jorge was awarded a PhD in Criminology by the University of Huddersfield (that received the Vice-Chancellor Award for an Outstanding Research Degree Thesis), a Msc. In Criminology and Criminal Justice by the University of Edinburgh and a Degree in Law by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain).  He has also experience working as a solicitor.

His lines of research and interest are: posthumanism and the impact of technology in society, cybercrime, cyberfeminism, Criminological Ultra-Realism, Cultural Criminology and Mixed-Methods Research. He has participated in research projects on the night-time economy, victimisation and risk on dating apps, social networks and young people and he has also developed the theoretical framework of “Cyborg Criminology”. He is the author of several books, both in Spanish and English.

He is also interested in innovative approaches to teaching such as “Challenge-Based Learning and Research” and the use of media and popular culture.
