Rina is Professor of Visual Culture and Theory and, Research Lead for the Department of Art and Communication at Huddersfield University. She has expertise in visual culture and communication; contemporary art; art and design history and theory; cultural anthropology; contemporary art; conceptual art; digital culture and, critical theory. She is widely published and in addition to an extensive body of work on art theory has also contributed to gender, sexuality, spirituality and, post-colonial studies. With a personal history rooted in South Asia, she also brings cultural knowledge relevant to the Indian context. Rina is not new to Ni3 and has been working behind the scenes with Professor Song Wu on research outputs from the implementation of the first Ni3 video game in St Lucia.
She is interested in feminism for women of colour and has written about gender issues within a South Asian context, and intersectionality. She is currently working on a book about cultural appropriation in a Hindu context.
