Use your creative skills to show us what love is. In line with our UK research theme of control and violence in adolescent relationships, we’re seeking artistic representations of what young relationships are like, what they should, and shouldn’t be.
Shortlisted entries will be exhibited at the University, and across the globe through None in Three’s social media channels. £30 gift vouchers are up for grabs for the four winning entries. Hurry to submit your entry by 14th February!
Our creative competition is an opportunity to contribute to a global research project marketing campaign, within None in Three’s work to combat gender-based violence.
In the UK our focus is on control and violence in adolescent relationships. Find out more about the work we are doing in the UK at www.noneinthree.org/united-kingdom/
Valentine’s Day forces us all to think about what love is and how it is expressed – whether we are in a relationship or not. At None in Three we are interested in what constitutes a healthy, supportive, positive and empowering relationship, and what it looks or feels like when there is a power imbalance or mistrust.
You are invited to interpret and respond to these themes in any means you choose, whether as a 2D illustration like an alternative Valentine’s Day card, with creative writing, or through a performance medium like music or dance.
Whilst we appreciate quality design and production, we are also interested in thought-provoking ideas – so even if art isn’t your forte, please have a go!
- If you are working in 2D design, such as drawing or photography, please send us the image scanned as a jpeg.
- If you are working in 3D construction, perhaps with real-life objects or with textiles, we would like you to take a photograph of the object to send us as a jpeg.
- If you are working in performance, we will require an mp4 film of the piece or an mp3 of audio-based work.
We would also like you to write a brief message, or a short statement (just a couple of lines) about your approach or interpretation of the theme.
Please send entries to us at noneinthree@hud.ac.uk – if it is a large file please use WeTransfer.
If you are unable to share the work electronically, you can hand it in at the None in Three Research Centre on campus at EKG/12.
The deadline for entries is 3pm Thursday 14th February (Valentine’s Day) 2019
Four selected entries will each win Amazon gift vouchers worth £30. The entries may also be used as part of our ongoing social media campaigns to highlight issues around intimate partner violence and it’s effects.
We look forward to receiving your responses – whether a beautiful image of harmony, an angry poem about the pressure to be in a relationship, or a tongue-in-cheek cartoon of hopeful or defiant interaction.
Please let us know your name and the course you are on, and state whether or not you are happy for your name to be included in the exhibition.
