Professor Adele Jones Featured in Phenomenal Women Exhibition
Our Centre Director, Professor Adele Jones, has been recognised as one of the country’s most successful Black female academics at an outdoor exhibition at London’s Southbank Centre.
The exhibition, Phenomenal Women: Portraits of UK Black Female Professors, highlights the achievements of Black female scholars. It is based on the research of Dr Nicola Rollock, who explored the working realities of Black female professors in the UK, including exploring the barriers they face and the strategies they use to progress in their careers.
The latest figures show that, of the over 19,000 professors working in UK universities, only 35 were Black women. This exhibition will bring attention to the achievements of some of these phenomenal women and, we hope, help to address the under-representation of Black women in UK academia.
